This cycle takes place on the 9th of June 2024
Two great routes again this year through stunning countryside and across rivers and along side several lakes. The 50Km route starts in Elphin and heads south towards Strokestown with Slieve bawn and its windmills in the distance. Heading then over the bridge into Leitrim and the charming village of Drumsna. From there on to Carrick on Shannon for a well earned rest and refreshment stop.
Departing Carrick and cycling back in to County Roscommon cyclists make their way back to Elphin passing the historic "Thatch Pub" on the way. The longer route has been extended out to 100km this year and heads towards Strokestown and then a nice climb up towards Scramoge and then lovely downhill terrain with Kilglass lakes to the left.
Crossing the Shannon into Leitrim at Rooskey cyclists make there way down towards Carrick on Shannon with the river Shannon meandering on the left and visible at times along the route. After a rest and refreshment stop in Carrick , cyclists head for Boyle and pass the 12th century Boyle Abbey and 17th century King house before crossing Boyle river and heading up through the middle of the historic town.
From there it is south towards Frenchpark and then a left turn towards the "Four Provinces" landmark pub. On the home straight then , heading south towards Shankill with a left turn to take you back to the ancient cathedral town of Elphin.
