Slane Castle (5k Trail Run/Walk) fun-draiser is back for it’s 11^th year!

We`re delighted to announce that the popular ‘Slane Castle 5km Trail Run/Walk’ is back for its 11th year! Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 24th, 2026, because the fun kicks off at 9:30am sharp, in the breathtaking grounds of Slane Castle.

Get ready to explore a stunning 5km route that winds through the gorgeous castle estate, including a scenic forest trail along the beautiful River Boyne. This is your chance to soak in the amazing surroundings of Slane Castle, famous for its spectacular rock concerts and featured in the hit TV series, The Traitors Ireland!

This fantastic event is brought to you by the Parents’ Association of St. Patrick's National School, with support from Meath Local Sports Partnership, Slane Castle, and the Civil Defence. It’s not just about the trail run/walk; it’s a lively community day and the main fundraiser for the Slane National School Parents’ Association, with all funds helping to enhance the outdoor learning spaces. So come join us for a day of fun and activity!

There are t-shirts for the first 200 adults (on the day) and the first 200 U16’s. We also have finishing medals for the first 400 over the line! After race-refreshments and home-baked goods will be available free of charge to all who support the event.

Race-goers can also avail of parking on the grounds of the castle. Please note that pets are not permitted in the grounds of Slane Castle and we ask you to please respect this. The route is suitable for all walkers, joggers, runners and even buggy pushers, regardless of ability or fitness level.

Why not avail of the early bird online registration - €20 for Adults, €10 for Secondary School aged children and €5.00 for Primary School aged children.
