The Tuam Cycling Club annual fundraiser sportif is taking place on Sunday, 11th May. This annual event is a fundraiser for Tuam Cancer Care and the Galway Hospice.

Both the 50km and 100km route start and finish at Trinity Primary School Gym on the Dublin Road, Tuam, H54 N237. There is plenty of off-street parking available for cyclists who are driving to the start line.

Sign in opens from 8:30am and all cyclists must present themselves at sign in desk on the morning.

Cyclists can choose on the day from two routes and both routes start at 9:30am. The initial start will be controlled by a lead car until cyclists have passed through the town of Tuam and head out the Ballygaddy Road.

The 100km route will head towards Foxhall, Hollymount, Ballinrobe, before turning towards Clonbur, where the food stop will be set up at Clonbur Community Centre, which is at 55km. Departing Clonbur, cyclists will then face a short climb before heading towards Cong, Cross, Glencorrib, Shrule, Headford and then return to Tuam (via Caherrlistrane and Sylane). This route will suit regular cyclists and although no major climbs, there are quite a few rolling hills with a total elevation of approx 550m.

The 50km route is suitable for novice cyclists and will also head towards Foxhall, where cyclists then turn left towards Dalgan with the refreshment stop in Shrule. After a short climb out of Shrule, cyclists will then turn towards Caherlistrane before returning to Tuam via Sylane and in the Weir Road.

When cyclists return to Tuam, they will finish at Trinity Primary School Gym where light refreshments will be provided.

Entry fee (online only) is €25 for Cycling Ireland members and €45 for non-members. The additional cost is for a Cycling Ireland One-day licence (ODL) which provides the holder with a level of insurance cover while participating in a Cycling Ireland event. The ODL is  for the specific event only. However, an ODL can be upgraded to Cycling Ireland Leisure Membership and pay only the difference.

Entry links are also on the Tuam Cycling Club Facebook page.
