Cycling Ireland's Gearing Up is a progressive mountain bike skills programme designed for beginners. It covers the fundamental skills required for cycling in an off-road environment.
This course is coached by Julie Rea from Phoenix Cycling Club at Barnetts Demense, Belfast.
'I’ve been mountain biking and road cycling for 12 years. I joined Phoenix Cycling Club and my skill and fitness level increased dramatically as a result. But the best thing about joining a club is the friends you make and the opportunities that come your way. In 2019 along with my club mate Gillian we ran a very successful Women on Wheels programme for Road cycling. I’m excited to be able to run a similar programme for women wanting to get involved in mountain biking. This course will give you the skills to ride your mountain bike safely and confidently down most trails.'
6 sessions held weekly starting on Thursday 16th June, 6.30pm at Barnetts Demense.
Requirements - a working mountain bike, helmet, gloves and the desire to have fun!
Please note the registration fee includes a Cycling Ireland Leisure Membership valid until 31st Dec 2022.
If you are currently a Cycling Ireland member and would like to take part please contact Julie (£7 programme fee applies).
