"The first of its kind coaching certificate about females, not for females"
Menopause is something that will affect female’s at some point in their lives. It is important that National Governing Bodies (NGBs) raise awareness to the topic and provide training to our coaches and leaders supporting them to cater for women throughout the lifecycle.
Athletics Ireland, Swim Ireland, Triathlon Ireland and Cycling Ireland are collaborating to provide this training for those involved or interested in training midlife women.
The Menopause is a known barrier to taking part in exercise for many women, when in fact physical activity and exercise can help in the management of symptoms and increase a woman’s quality of life. We want to encourage more females to engage in physical activity and exercise to enjoy its benefits throughout the major milestones of life.
The “Training Midlife Women” programme is delivered by The Well HQ . The Well courses provide learners with the tools to educate and empower women, so they can become active and use exercise as one of the solutions to help alleviate symptoms of many female health issues.
In November the first of its kind coaching certificate will launch with coaches across Athletics, Cycling, Swimming and Triathlon in partnership with The Well-HQ. The aim of the programme is to learn, share and improve together so coaches and instructors, are equipped with the knowledge, expertise and support they need to train midlife women well, ensuring their longevity in the sport from participation to elite level.
Over 3 months candidates will be work together to learn from Dr’s, Exercise Physiologists, Coaches and Nutritionists from The Well to understand how best to support women through this life stage.
