Ards CC Town Centre Races and Ulster Criterium Championships 2026

Ards CC and Cycling Ulster are excited to bring the Ards Town Center Races and the Ulster Criterium Championships to Newtownards Town Center. A special mention must go to the Ards and North Down Borough Council on their desire to allow Ards CC, the chance to once again provide an evening of fast and furious racing on a specially arranged closed road circuit. Also to our sponsors, Formation Works and Black Quay for their generous support.

Traffic management will commence the road closure process not long after 5pm, with the evening’s festivities kicking off a fun event for Parents and Children at 6pm, to experience a taste of closed roads.

The Racing is open to all Cycling Ireland Racing Licenses from across the country. Not only do we welcome Ulster Riders to compete for a coveted Ulster Medal, but all other provinces are welcome to compete for prize money and that all important grading point.

We have also arranged for Ulster Ladies who do not race, to experience the excitement that comes from a closed circuit race, with a specially arranged Exhibition event. All Limited Competition and a Leisure Licenses can enter (a one day license will be required to purchase for leisure licenses). Full Competition License holders can also enter this if they so wish but to compete for an Ulster Championship will be required to enter the main championship races. We must thank Cycling Ireland for their Co-operation in making this possible.

Race Format. (18:15 for race 1)

1. U8, U10, U12 Race.
2. U14, U16, Ladies Exhibition Race.
3. M50, M60 and M70 Men and any Women.
4. M40 Men (and any Women in same age range), Junior Ladies and Senior Ladies.
5. Senior and Junior Men. (under age of 40).
