Áine McCabe - McCabes Pharmacy Malahide fundraising for
Irish Heart Foundation
Next March, My colleague Lisa & I will be joining 12 incredible women with the Irish Heart Foundation on a mission to raise awareness and funds for an important cause..Because Her Heart Matters
WHAT'S OUR MISSION???
We’ll be taking on an incredible challenge of physical & mental endurance by travelling 350km north of the Arctic Circle, learning to navigate across frozen lakes whilst pulling our gear & camping out in extreme conditions as low as -20°C, with the Northern Lights as our backdrop.
I won't lie when Lisa first suggested this trip I thought she was out of her mind 😊Then I learnt that 1 in 4 women in Ireland will die from Stroke or heart disease & that shockingly as many as 80% of these can be prevented with lifestyle change!! I want to help the IHF raise this awareness.
Cardiovascular disease in women has been under-researched, under-diagnosed, and under-treated for far too long.
Thank you for your generosity and belief in a healthier future for all women ❤️❤️

About The Cause
Every hour someone in Ireland suffers from a stroke. Every day, hundreds of Irish people are diagnosed with heart disease.
The lives of these people are often cut tragically short. Many are left disabled. Almost 9,000 people die each year, making heart disease and stroke one of the nation’s biggest killers.
It shouldn’t be this way and this fact forms our reason for being. We are the nation’s heart and stroke charity.
Our mission is to effect positive change in the lifestyles of Irish people, to achieve better outcomes for those affected by heart disease and stroke and to challenge when the health of our nation is put at risk.
We empower people to live longer, healthier lives. Thank you for choosing to support us.
About The Campaign
Women are SIX times more likely to die from heart disease and stroke than breast cancer. However, cardiovascular disease in women remains under-researched, under-diagnosed and under-treated for too long. We need to change that.
A team of women will be taking on the Arctic Challenge to raise vital funds and awareness around women's heart health - because Her Heart Matters!
