Mary-Paula Guinness fundraising for Irish Heart Foundation
Women are 6 times more likely to die of cardiac disease and stroke than breast cancer. What an extraordinary statistic! Most people associate heart disease with men who are far more aware and proactive about their heart health. In order to raise awareness that "Her Heart Matters" I am joining an all female challenge in the Artic next spring with my friend Alison. We will travel 250km north of the Artic Circle to learn survival and navigational skills to prepare us for an expedition into the wilderness. We will be pulling our equipment across frozen lakes and camp out in minus 20 degrees under the Northern Lights dealing with extreme cold and a very stark environment. For anyone who knows me well I don't do either cold or camping so it will be a test of endurance, stamina and mental and physical resilience. Training has started and I am hiking and building up my stamina with cardio and strength training. Fundraising is essential for the Irish Heart Foundation so any donation will make
