Jacqui Twohig fundraising for Prader Willi Syndrome Association Ireland in Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2024
I am running the Dublin City Marathon for the PWSAI. This wonderful charity aims to raise awareness and understanding of Prader-Willi Syndrome and to improve the choice and quality of care, education and support for persons with PWS. I chose this charity because of my beautiful little friend Tomás. He’s a warrior who has been fighting so hard since birth to overcome the challenges he faces but the list of new challenges that may arise for him as he grows is long and daunting. Tomás and his family have received lots of support from the PWSAI since receiving his diagnosis. PWS is a complex multi-system genetic disorder. It is a rare syndrome with 4 - 5 new babies being diagnosed in Ireland annually. “We’re still learning about what PWS means for Tomás and our family. One thing that’s clear is that the more people who are aware of the challenges involved, the easier it will be to keep Tomás safe and well as we navigate the future.” Elizabeth (Tomás’ mammy) www.pwsai.ie to learn more.
