Running a marathon is a long bet where you cannot outsource the miles ran. It is about showing up, pushing yourself out of the comfort zone and requires focus and clarity. This is a renewed self belief that we can do anything and the pursuit of something bigger is meaningful. Why I chose Kenya Children Centre? The KCC creates access where access does not naturally exist. I chose the KCC because they focus on sustainable not short term fixes. Education, nutrition, healthcare and stability should not depend on where one is born. This organization focuses on compounding change and growth over time, similar to training for a marathon. It is an honor to run for this organization and invest this work into the children, our future. What motivates me personally? Training for a marathon eliminates excuses. It creates an environment where we push the boundaries of the mental and physical. I am motivated by this journey and becoming a more resilient individual in the process. I also have been given the opportunity of education, health and support. It is my responsibility to use what I've been given to help create leverage and benefit for others.
