The Heffernan Family fundraising for Irish Heart Foundation

“Walking the Camino in memory of Michael Heffernan” Thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraising page. 10 years ago on the 4th November 2015 our beloved Daddy and brilliant husband lost his life to cardiac arrest. This year to mark his untimely passing the Heffernan family along with 30 of our friends and family will be completing the Camino De Frances pilgrimage walk. Starting on the 5th October, we will cover 111km over 5 short days. In conjunction with our journey, we hope to support a cause close to us- the Irish Heart Foundation. This organisation is dedicated to preventing premature death and disability from heart disease and stroke. We would greatly appreciate any contributions to this worthy charity.

About Irish Heart Foundation

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death in both men and women. The tragic reality is – around 16 people will have a heart attack today. Just today, and every other day. And on each of those days, 20 others will have a stroke. These are extraordinary and stark facts. But the equally remarkable – and hopeful – reality is: 80% of early heart disease and stroke cases are preventable. That’s why the Irish Heart Foundation has been here for 60 years. Here to lead the charge to protect the cardiovascular health of everyone in Ireland. Here, to eliminate preventable death or disability. Here to collaborate. Here, not just as one of Ireland’s most trusted and effective charities, but to build a lifesaving movement across the country. We are here regardless of age, background or means. Here for every community, every school, and every workplace. Here for every heartbeat.
