About Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI
Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI is the only local charity in Northern Ireland dedicated to blood cancer - funding research, education and clinical support to improve treatments and outcomes for local patients and their families.
Blood cancer is the 5th most common cancer in the UK, and the 3rd highest killer. It is the most common type of cancer to be diagnosed in children and those under 30.
Alarmingly 3 people every day are diagnosed in NI.
It is the least well known cancer, and since it is a systemic cancer (rather than a tumour that can be removed), treatment is complicated and highly individualized. Another important aim of the charity is to raise awareness of early symptoms which are often misdiagnosed as minor ailments.
