I’m running the Dublin marathon for Felix & Gus Ward on behalf of Feileacain 🦋 an Irish charity supporting families after the loss of a baby. On August 13th 2023, my sister in law Hannah & her husband Andrew gave birth to beautiful baby Felix at 24 weeks. For 3 long weeks, Felix defied all medical odds in NICU, there was so much hope. On 2nd September, Felix devastatingly lost his fight & passed peacefully in Hannah’s arms. Thanks to Feileacain, Hannah & Andrew were able to bring Felix home in a special cooled cot, meaning our family & friends were able to meet, hold and bury him with peace & dignity. They also provided teeny clothes & a memory box. Devastatingly on May 9th 2024, Hannah & Andrew gave birth to their second son: Gus who passed at 18 weeks; the cruelest twist in their recovery & again they were supported by Feileacain. Wee Gus is buried next to his big brother Felix & there are NO words to describe the pain they’ve endured. Thanks SO much for your support xx

About Féileacáin (Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Association of Ireland

Féileacáin (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Association of Ireland – SANDAI) was formed in 2009 and subsequently registered as a charity in 2010 ( CHY – 19635). Féileacáin was formed by a group of bereaved parents to offer support to anyone affected by the death of a baby around the time of birth, and the organisation is now the national charity supporting families affected by perinatal loss. Féileacáin is a volunteer led organisation and receives no funding from central government, relying instead on the support of our community and the families who avail of our services.
