King family 👑 fundraising for Bru Columbanus in Waterford Viking Marathon 2026

⏰ What value would you put on the gift of being able to spend TIME with a loved one who is vulnerable, sick or maybe even dying? That is the precious gift our family received from Bru Columbanus last year. Relying solely on donations, Bru Colombanus provides families with accommodation so they can stay close to loved ones receiving treatment in hospital 🏥 “In April 2025, our Dad unexpectedly became unwell. He spent 3 months in hospital in Cork before he passed away. We will be forever thankful to Bru Colombanus for helping us when we needed it most, to make sure that our Dad never had to spend a day his hospital without family by his side and we got to spend as much time with him as we could in his final months.” This year on Father’s Day, we are taking part in the Waterford Viking marathon, in memory of our Dad, and to raise some money to give back to this wonderful charity. 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️ If you are able to share and help us reach out target it would be so very much appreciated 🙏 every little bit really does help! At Brú Columbanus, we believe that no one should have to face a medical crisis alone or far from loved ones. We provide home-from-home accommodation, free of charge, to the families of seriously ill patients in Cork hospitals and the hospice. Many of our guests travel long distances for treatment - often during the most difficult days of their lives. By offering a warm, safe place to stay just minutes from the hospital, we lift a heavy financial and emotional burden from families when they need it most. Every year, we support over 700 families from across Ireland. This service is made possible entirely through the generosity of fundraisers and donors like you. With your help, we can continue to keep families together when it matters most. Together, we can provide comfort, dignity, and hope in the toughest of times. The Waterford Viking Marathon is back for its 14th year on June 20th & 21st, 2026 — for it’s biggest and boldest yet!
Join thousands of runners in Ireland’s oldest city, where Viking history meets stunning scenery for a race like no other. Whether you're tackling the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, Children’s Fun Run, or our Disability-Friendly Run, this is more than just a running event — it’s a full-on festival of running!
Can’t join us in person? No problem! Run virtually anytime from June 20–23, and we’ll still send you your finisher medal and t-shirt — no matter where in the world you are!

When you register, you'll have the opportunity to make a difference by raising funds for our 2026 charity partner the RNLI, or another charity that holds a special place in your heart.
