Hi Everyone, I am running the Dublin City Marathon on October 27th to raise money for Breast Cancer Research and Awareness. I had signed up for the marathon only a couple of months ago as this is a cause very close to me and my family. Unfortunately BC has affected almost all of us - our Grandmothers, Mothers, Sisters, Aunties, Neices, Family and Friends so at the time I wanted to do something to help raise awareness and much needed funds towards research and treatments which will improve the options and outcomes for breast cancer patients. Sadly my beautiful sister Annemarie passed away recently from metastatic breast cancer and I will now be running the marathon in her memory ❤️ Something I never would have thought I would be doing when I first signed up but will continue with to raise funds in her memory 🩷 Any donation, share or support is really appreciated, Thanks Elaine x

About National Breast Cancer Research Institute

Currently, 1 in 7 Irish women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and there are 3,507 cases diagnosed annually which is set to continue to increase. These women are our mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, friends and neighbours. We know these women, they play major roles in our lives. The National Breast Cancer Research Institute is a national charity that funds a comprehensive research programme at the University of Galway. We know that breast cancer research has improved the diagnosis, treatment options, and outcomes for those who develop the disease. We want to fund these research programmes to continue to impact the outcomes for those who develop the disease in the future. The research team, in collaboration with universities and hospitals across the globe, focuses on the development & improvement of diagnostic techniques and treatment strategies, to drive real and measurable improvement in clinical outcomes for breast cancer patients.
