Elaine Cassidy fundraising for Breast Cancer Ireland in Very Pink Run 2024

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for BCI,a charity that I feel so close to having gone through treatment for breast cancer 6 years ago.Fast forward to 6th Aug 2024 and I had signed up for the Run this year to support this important cause.Little did I think that 24 hrs later I would be in Beaumont Hospital having experienced a spasm in my hand that unfortunately through scans has shown a small mass on the side of my brain.It has been 2 weeks of many scans,tests and the never-ending wait for results.Unfortunately those results have shown that my breast cancer has returned.It has been a dark and lonely time but this week has been the start of a discussion with my medical team about pathways that are only possible thanks to funded research.This has given me the greatest gift of all, hope. I've a challenging path ahead but one of the first steps forward will be taking part in the Great Pink Run on 31st Aug.Please support the work of this charity in any small way you can.

D-day has arrived.This week has been truly phenomenal in terms of people’s generosity of spirit and pocket.Treatment for my brain tumour is now scheduled for Monday(it appears that cancer doesn’t take a break for charity fund-raising events!)but today the focus is on connection and support for each other, built on a collective purpose,to raise funds and awareness to combat breast cancer. What started out 4 days ago as a small opportunity to raise awareness and funds for BCI in the midst of a very challenging few weeks for myself and my family has transformed into the most positive experience imaginable.I truly believe our superpower is in our collective kindness and generosity and your generosity has been humbling.It has also shown our daughter Evie that even in the challenging times in life there is always opportunity to do something positive.Heartfelt thanks for all your support.
