Kilcornan NS is a small school in the heart of county Limerick on the doorstep of Curragh Chase Forest Park. The school's warm welcome and inclusive ethos has meant that there has been a threefold increase in pupil numbers in the last 23 years which has meant that the school has outgrown it's buildings. The Dept. for Education and Skills has granted funding for two new ensuite classrooms, two Special Education Teacher (SET) rooms and a wheelchair accessible toilet. In addition a new reception/circulation area, a principal’s office, and a secretary’s office will also be built. However, the grant does not cover these vital elements and the school community and parish must raise the funds themselves. Last year the school community worked really hard to raise over €30K towards the fund (having raised €70K in total) but there is still more to go. Please sponsor the brave parents and teachers who will be abseiling 125ft down the side of Thomond Park to support this worthy cause.
Take part in a unique opportunity to abseil 45m/125ft from the heights of the home of Munster rugby, Thomond Park, to raise vital funds for the Kilcornan National School new building fund. The event will take place at the iconic Limerick venue on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, at 1 pm. Participants in the Abseil Challenge will be asked to pay a registration fee of €50 (plus fees) to cover the costs of doing the abseil. We are then encouraging each participant to aim to raise a minimum of €200 which will go towards the building fund. Those who take part in the Challenge must be aged 15 or over on the day. Fully Qualified and Safety assured, all the abseiling safety equipment such as ropes, helmets, and harnesses are included, and participants can descend at a pace that suits.
