Deirdre Mc Carthy fundraising for Oesophageal Cancer Fund in Regeneron Great Limerick Run 2026
💜 Supporting the Oesophageal Cancer Fund at the Great Limerick Run In 2020, my family faced one of our toughest moments when my Dad was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. It was a frightening time but thanks to exceptional treatment and major surgery, he made a full recovery, something we will always be deeply grateful for. This year, I’m taking on the 6 mile Great Limerick Run, and I’m incredibly lucky that my best friends are running it with me. Together, we’re raising funds for the Oesophageal Cancer Fund (OCF) to support their critical work in research, patient care, and life‑saving awareness. Oesophageal cancer remains a significant challenge in Ireland, with around 500 new cases diagnosed annually, one of the highest rates in Europe. Symptoms like difficulty swallowing, persistent heartburn, regurgitation, unexplained weight loss, and ongoing cough or hiccups are often overlooked or attributed to everyday digestive issues. Early detection can make an enormous difference. By supporting OCF, you’re helping to increase awareness, improve early diagnosis, and ultimately save lives. If you’re in a position to contribute, no matter the amount, it would mean so much to me and to the many families touched by this disease. 💜 Thank you for your support. 💜 Thank you to my friends for running alongside me. 💜 And thank you for helping us make a real impact. You can share my page on any social media platforms using the social sharing sections. Thanks again Deirdre 💜🏃🏻♀️
