Christopher Clowes fundraising for Irish Cancer Society

On September 6th, I will be taking on my first marathon—the Dingle Marathon—to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society, an organization that plays a crucial role in supporting individuals and families during some of life’s most challenging moments. I have personally heard from those close to me who have interacted with the ICS, and they have spoken about the unique and often unexpected ways in which the organization has provided vital assistance to those battling cancer. I have set an ambitious goal of raising €5,000, and I am calling on all those who believe in supporting a cause that truly makes a difference. While long-distance running is new territory for me, I am committed to going the distance both on the road and in this fundraising effort. Please share so we can get as many contributions as we can - all donations matter and this is a subject that is close to my heart.

About Irish Cancer Society

Cancer is the most common cause of death in Ireland with more than 9,000 people dying each year. That's almost 25 people dying from cancer every day across Ireland. An average of 1 person every hour. However, thanks to earlier detection, improved care and targeted treatments, more people are surviving cancer than ever before. Today, there are 200,000 cancer survivors in Ireland. The Irish Cancer Society are working towards a future where nobody dies from cancer, and everyone affected by the disease will have access to world class treatment and support. Typically receiving only 5% of income from the Government, your support helps provide key services to ensure no one has to face cancer alone and funds vital cancer research with over €30 million invested since 2010.

About Dingle Full and Half Marathon 2025 Fundraising Campaign

The course consists of a Half Marathon (13.1 miles) and a Full Marathon (26.2 miles) which traverse the spectacular Dingle Peninsula.  This is a ‘must do’ event in one of Ireland’s most beautiful locations on Slea Head with the course designed for runners and walkers to enjoy its breathtaking scenery and beautiful rugged coastline. This is the only day in the year when vehicular traffic is removed from Slea Head immersing runners in the natural beauty of the Dingle Peninsula on the Wild Atlantic Way.
Dingle town comes alive this weekend with an incredible atmosphere and good times guaranteed all weekend.  The Dingle Marathon is not just a marathon; it is the experience of a lifetime.  Many seasoned international runners have described the Dingle Marathon as simply the best that they have experienced in the entire world.  The unique “Dingle vibe” is very difficult for us to explain but once you’ve experienced it you’ll never forget it!
