Founded in 1997, Assisi Animal Sanctuary is one of Northern Ireland’s largest independent animal welfare charity. Based in County Down, we follow a strict No-Kill policy and rescue over 700 animals annually. Around 200 animals are in our care at any time, receiving shelter, food, veterinary treatment, and a chance at a loving forever home. Animal welfare is central to our mission. Every animal is vaccinated, neutered, treated for parasites, and microchipped (where possible), regardless of age or condition. Many arrive from neglect, and we’re committed to giving them the best quality of life. As a charity we do not receive any government funding and rely heavily on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and the wider community.
