The Frank Duffy 10mile race was on today in the phoenix park. Training has been good in the lead up, complicated by a week of COVID but back to it in the last 10 days. All went well thankfully, finishing in 1hr 7min, just ahead of the plan. I had a bit in reserve, so hopefully the recovery goes well over the next few days and we go again! Just over 30days until the Half Marathon!

My first 10km event was last Sunday (Fingal 10km). I know myself that I need to practice the process of a race so I was really looking forward to this one. I had great support from my 2 boys and wife, and had to resist the urge to push too hard for the ego!! Thankfully all went according to plan; I ran well within my capabilities and finished in 41mins 6 seconds. Mileage starts to ramp up now. Having only started running 7 weeks ago, this is a bit of an unknown for me, hopefully the body holds up!!!!

The mission of The Gavin Glynn Foundation is to assist families battling childhood cancer in Ireland with all the logistical and financial aspects of travelling overseas for specialist cancer treatment not available in Ireland. We are the only registered charity in Ireland providing this support to families battling childhood cancer. The Gavin Glynn Foundation arrange all logistics and cover all costs associated with: • Transportation (eg. Flights, Car Hire). • Transportation to and from the designated Airports. • Accommodation within, or close to, the designated medical centre. • Food and living expenses for the duration of the child’s treatment while abroad. By taking the financial burden and stress away from the families, it allows parents focus all their time on their child and family.
