Barry and Eoin running the Belfast City Marathon fundraising for World Vision Ireland
We're running the 2025 Belfast City Marathon in support of World Vision Ireland and its work in Tanzania. Right now is a challenging time for those in the developing world who need the support for NGOs and Aid Agencies. Cuts to funding in many countries are having a significant impact on the ground for the poorest and most vulnerable. For more than 70 years, World Vision has been focused on helping the most vulnerable children, in the most difficult places, overcome poverty and experience fullness of life. We are fundraising to support the ARDHI Tanga project to increase income & sustainable forest management in Tanzania (more info below). While 26.2 miles will be a big challenge for the both of us - and the training is not much fun either! - it's nothing compared to the challenges faced by so many in the developing world every single day. If you are in a position to support, please do give what you can - all money goes directly to support this essential work on the ground. Thanks so much - Barry & Eoin ABOUT THE ARDHI TANGA PROJECT In the heart of Tanzania's Tanga region, communities grapple with the harsh realities of deforestation, poverty, and health hazards associated with unsustainable energy practices. By supporting and educating local communites toward sustainable practices, health standards can be vastly improved, children’s lives saved, and communities can leverage income from sustainable sources and reforestation. ARDHI Tanga project aims to bring about positive change for 150,000 people over three years, with a focus on fostering lasting and sustainable impact that will far outlive the project itself. €500 enables the formation of one women-led and one youth-led savings group, training and two cash-boxes €1,000 provides 3 beehives to promote environmentally friendly income generation €2,500 provides 8 training sessions to youth groups on charcoal briquette making €5,000 supports the creation of 5 charcoal producers’ associations
