Addison Paterson fundraising for Assisi Animal Sanctuary in Phoenix Energy Belfast City Marathon 2026
We're running the 2026 Belfast Marathon Relay in support of Assisi, a local independent no-kill animal sanctuary & welfare charity in the North of Ireland. Shelters nationally (and so on) are at the point of crisis and inundation, so to put our steps behind Assisi's vital work advocating for the 200 animals in their care & beyond is v important to us. Particularly as they've told us we're the first to ever run the Marathon relay on their behalf. High time they got their flowers (in the form of us hitting our target). About Assisi Animal Sanctuary
Founded in 1997, Assisi Animal Sanctuary is one of Northern Ireland’s largest independent animal welfare charity. Based in County Down, we follow a strict No-Kill policy and rescue over 700 animals annually. Around 200 animals are in our care at any time, receiving shelter, food, veterinary treatment, and a chance at a loving forever home.
Animal welfare is central to our mission. Every animal is vaccinated, neutered, treated for parasites, and microchipped (where possible), regardless of age or condition. Many arrive from neglect, and we’re committed to giving them the best quality of life.
As a charity we do not receive any government funding and rely heavily on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and the wider community. Together, we need to raise over £3,287 per day — that's £1.2 million each year — to ensure we sustain this vital service.
