On May 22nd 2025, two weeks before my leaving cert, I was met with the life changing diagnosis of an Arteriovenous Malformation, (AVM) in the left side of my brain, the diagnosis left me with the loss of feeling in the right side of my body. Being in a wheelchair, I was told I may never play sports again. Now, just a year later, I’m running the Dublin Half Marathon in aid of the hospital that helped change the course of my life. From May to October 2025, I received incredible care and support from the neurosurgery team in Beaumont Hospital. I underwent the scary yet successful procedure of radiosurgery on my brain. Every step of the way, I was met with compassion and reassurance. I truly owe my life and my recovery to Beaumont Hospital. The dedication and kindness of the doctors, nurses and surgeons in Beaumont are like no other. I will be forever grateful for the care, patience, and strength they shared with me and my family. Taking on this half marathon is my way of saying thank you and giving something back. Beaumont Hospital provides vital, specialist care to thousands of patients across Ireland every day and I would love to help support them in continuing this life changing work for others. if you’re unable to donate, even sharing this page would make a huge difference, helping to spread awareness of the incredible work Beaumont Hospital does every single day. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story, and for any support you can give, it genuinely means more than I can put into words.
