Alex Murtagh fundraising for Irish Sepsis Foundation

We're taking part in the Echo Mini Marathon in Cork City on September 21st in memory of our beloved Alanna who tragically lost her life to sepsis on March 1st 2024, at the age of 24. Alanna was taken from us far too soon, and we want to honour her by raising vital funds for the Irish Sepsis Foundation, an organisation dedicated to increasing awareness, improving early detection, and supporting those affected by this silent killer. Sepsis can affect anyone, and early recognition is key to saving lives. By donating, you are helping to fund crucial education and research that could prevent more families from experiencing this heartbreaking loss. Every step we take on race day is for Alanna, and every euro raised here will go directly to this great cause. We hope that you can help us by donating whatever you can. Simply click the Donate button. All donations are processed securely. You can also share our page using the Share options. This is a great way to show your support. Thank you!

About Irish Sepsis Foundation

Founder Doireann O'Mahony met Stephen Carr late in the summer of 2021 and each shared their experience of witnessing the devastation that can be caused by sepsis - Doireann who helps those affected through her legal work, and Stephen whose mother died suddenly in January 2018 due to sepsis. Both had a strong belief in the importance of raising public awareness of sepsis and its risks, as well as supporting those affected. Recognizing that there was no sepsis charity in the Republic of Ireland, together they determined to change that and the idea for the Irish Sepsis Foundation was born. The Irish Sepsis Foundation is a non-profit charity organization founded and launched in September 2022 by barrister Doireann O'Mahony. The current board of trustees also includes Aimée Nolan, Bernard Jackman, Joe Hughes, Karen Phoenix, James Corcoran, Sinéad Corcoran, and Lorraine Downey - each of whom is committed to the cause, bringing a unique perspective and different set of skills to the charity.
