Aine Leenane fundraising for Asthma Society of Ireland in Nenagh Half Marathon & 10K 2026
Hello everyone, My name is Aine Leenane. I was diagnosed with mild asthma as a child. My asthma was very controlled growing up. However this wasn’t the case over the last couple of years. Last year I was extremely sick and experienced chronic asthma symptoms for the majority of the year. I was hospitalised twice during the year. I felt as if my whole life had been taken away from me. I was unable to do anything. I couldn’t go for walks, play sports, meet up with friends, work or drive. Every small movement became impossible for me. I was put on nebulisers and steroids for about six months with no improvement and other various changes of my inhalers. My asthma was severely uncontrolled and the medications were not working. As a young, active person this was extremely tough for me as I had to watch everyone else live their lives normally while I struggled to walk up the stairs. The turning point was when I began taking a biologic injection called Dupixent. This injection has given me my life back and I am so grateful to have access to it. I will be running 10km in aid of the Asthma society of Ireland. This charity is very close to my heart and I will be dedicating this run to anyone going through similar situations. I would greatly appreciate any donations to this excellent cause. Aine ❤️
