Aaron Curry fundraising for Waterford Hospice Movement CLG in Waterford Athletic Club Half Marathon 2025
Hello, my name is Aaron Curry. On the 29th of November myself, Chelsea and Ann Marie will be taking on the Waterford Athletic Club Half Marathon. We are running in the hope of raising funds for the Oak Ward at the South East Palliative Care Centre. We are doing this on behalf of my mother Siobhán who has spent some time in the Oak Ward. The Oak Ward is an important unit of the South East Palliative Care Centre which features 20 private rooms for patients needing specialist Palliative care. They also provide complementary therapies, counselling and other supports for patients and families. The Oak Ward is not just patient care; it goes above and beyond that. All staff are friendly, hardworking, caring and went out of their way not only to ensure Siobhán felt welcome and comfortable but also her family. They also offer great activities for patients to bring a sense of normality and pass the time on difficult days. Siobhán and ourselves would like to give back by helping to raise funds for this fantastic service that helps so many people on their journey. A note from Siobhán herself “Many thanks to all the staff, doctors, nurses and carers in the Oak Ward in University Waterford Hospital who have looked after me so well. Hope this gesture will be of some help”. As Siobhán was a former runner I have decided to run. Don’t worry, be happy are words close to Siobhàn’s heart and ones we will take with us into this marathon. We won’t be worrying about finish times, we will just be happy to take part and show our appreciation for a great service while hopefully raising some funds.
