Mothers First will again run the Cork City marathon on the 31st of May Bare Foot This time to fund a new program that provides targeted food and medicine to clinically malnourished pregnant mothers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Our target for the Cork City Marathon is to find 200 people that will donate 5 euro every month to fund this beautiful program.
This will provide food and medicine for 40 pregnant mothers each month for the next 7 months.
Why?
Colective action is the idea that a small action multiplied many times can create something meaningful beautiful and lasting.
Targeting these mothers turns a vulnerable pregnancy to a safe pregnancy and a healthier stronger infant to better able to navigate Life's challenges ahead.
Can you Imagine being part of this.
If so welcome to our community of change.

Mothers First is an inspiring story of action movement and evolution. It is principled on the idea of the impact of collective action over time
Founded in 2004 the project has developed from a Children's Hospital in Varanasi Northern India to a Mothers First Approach
Our approach targets pregnant mothers who are malnourished with food and medicine baskets each Month. This targeted approach leads to a direct increase in Birth Weight, which in turn has life long positive outcomes for health, education and resilience of the baby as he or she travels through life.
In March 2026 we brought our experience of running this program in India for the past 12 years to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Africa.
The Mother program is an exciting adventure that we are looking for direct support for.
In 2023, Mothers First developed a Listening Tent for a community of Internally displaced people in Somiland.
This community lead project focuses on gender sensitive development projects.
