THE VAMPIRE Swim is set to take place this Halloween in Limerick as part of Samhain: Limerick's Halloween Festival.
The Vampire Swim is an international blood drive by open water swimmers world-wide. Limerick’s third Vampire swim in aid of the Blood Bikes Mid West, is brought to you by Lumen Street Theatre in conjunction with Limerick Narwhals winter swimming as part of Samhain: Limerick's Halloween Festival.
The Vampire Swim is an international blood drive by open water swimmers. The Swim is an informal open water swim/dip and costume party held around Halloween in approximately 20 venues in Ireland, Scotland, Ontario, and around the United States.
Swimmers are asked to register their interest to donate blood at giveblood.ie or if they are a regular donor, just bring along their donor card.
This year Limerick is again an official venue, swimmers will donate warm-blood in the month prior to the swim, to take a cold dip in the Shannon for what is sure to be a fang-tastic event. Swimmers will be encouraged to dress up for the blood curdling occasion.
The event will take place at The Back of The Hunt Museum Friday 31st October from 12:00 to 14:30

Blood Bike Mid-West is a charitable organisation that provides an out of hours voluntary medical transport service in the Mid-West region.
We transport blood samples, breast milk, patient records, medical equipment and other medical supplies to/from hospitals, hospices and clinics.
Our base of operation is Limerick City delivering a service across the Mid-West region. We link up with other Blood Bike groups to provide a country wide service.
We run a 24/7 call out service 365 days of the year and have a dedicated weekend service of scheduled collections in Ennis, Nenagh & Croom Hospitals.
We also transport medication and medical equipment to hospitals in the mid-west region and to people's homes.
Blood Bike Mid-West collaborates with other blood bike groups to assist in the transportation of samples from children and adults. These samples are collected in the mid-west region and from Tralee Hospital and are sent to Temple Street Hospital in Dublin.
