Women's Hillwalk of Sliabh Beagh HOW 2025

Monaghan Sports Partnership is delighted to offer a guided hillwalk of a section of Sliabh Beagh in partnership with Tanagh Outdoor Education Centre.

The Walk is taking place on a section of Sliabh Beagh. Meeting point of the walk will be at Sliabh Beagh Hotel car park at 5.30 pm & finish at 7 pm and depart from the Car Park.

The path will take you along Sliabh Beagh Mountain and take in the beautiful views before returning to the end point.

The walk is estimated to take approx 2hrs & 30mins but please allow for longer as regular breaks must be factored in.

This walk will be lead by experienced walk leaders who have completed this part of the walk before.

Sliabh Beagh takes in the beauties of nature and will promote the benefits of the outdoors on both physical and mental well-being.

This walk is moderate with some difficult sections. Some level of fitness is required.

Essentials Needed to take part:

• Hiking Boots / comfortable walking footwear advisable
• Waterproof gear in case of inclement weather
• A Change of clothes
• A Backpack/Rucksack
• Packed Lunch and plenty of Fluids
• There are no changing areas so walkers are asked to come prepared in their gear

What other gear do I need:

• Wear comfortable clothing like - leggings, tracksuit bottoms, breathable T-Shirt and fleece & an extra warm layer.
• Be ready for the rain and pack a rain jacket and rain
  trousers.
• A hat and gloves to keep you safe from the wind even in Summer.
• Wear good sturdy walking shoes or hillwalking boots with woolly or synthetic socks.
• Have a backpack with water, sandwiches and snacks, coffee, tea or else.
• Don’t forget to bring first aid kit with plaster and bandages, personal medicine, inhaler, EpiPen etc.
